Another successful 24” NIRON PP-RCT piping system installation at a hospital in the southeastern U.S. The lines were installed from a new chiller plant to supply chilled water to the hospital. The system was prefabricated in large spools up to 40 feet long at the prefab shop of one of our major distributors and delivered to the site to be welded together in the trench using butt fusion. The trench was only opened for a single day, minimizing disruption to the site and avoiding any issues with weather that might have caused a disruption in the installation. This saved a significant amount of time compared to welded steel. And to add to the savings, Niron is completely soil resistant which eliminates the need for costly coatings and cathodic protection. Further, NIRON does not have to be installed with expensive concrete thrust blocks and expansion loops. In underground services for chilled water, it also does not require insulation as the material itself is highly insulating.
