The new PP-RCT valves have been designed and tested to work up to a maximum temperature of 160°F and a maximum pressure of 87 Psi. Eden Theological Seminary is a graduate school preparing women and men for ordained Christian ministry. Toly Products , one of the longest-running manufacturing companies in Malta, provides high-quality packaging solutions for the make-up, skincare and fragrance sectors. Starting operations in 1970, it was the first company to open on the Bulebel industrial estate and employed just 40 people in one factory unit. Today, the company occupies seven factory units and employs over 400 people. The new plant houses a state-of-the-art UV lacquering facility at Bulebel industrial estate. Toly Products started working for Chanel in 1990 after investing in their first UV lacquering plant. UV lacquering is a process through which a high gloss lacquer is sprayed onto a plastic surface which is then cured using ultraviolet light. [TESTO] => First production of NIRON PP-RCT pre-insulated pipes 6" SDR11 at NUPI plant in Early Branch, South Carolina. Pre-insulated pipes can be produced in Early Branch with a PVC and HDPE jacket pipe from 2" to 16". Pre-insulated pipes are ideally suitable for application in areas where the heat loss reduction is essential. This product range was specifically designed for networks for the distribution or adduction of hot fluids. The reliability, ease of installation and relevant physical-mechanical properties of the materials used allow installers to overcome many problems when installing heat distribution and conditioning systems. The excellent characteristics of the material allow to obtain high levels of thermal insulation with significantly reduced insulation layers if compared to those that would be required if other materials were to be used. The system is particularly suitable to be used for district heating/cooling, transport of hot water and drinking water, swimming pools and spas, cooling systems. Its main advantages are ease of installation and reduced installation time, excellent thermal insulation, low weight, high resistance to corrosion, high durability, resistance to abrasion and to stray currents.

[TESTO] => A successful re-tubing operation was carried out with SMARTFLEX pipe item code TSMA40 on a service station in Holland. The outside diameter of the existing piping was 1 1/2" with an inner diameter of only 48 mm. Neverthless, installers were able to insert the SMARTFLEX pipe and pull it through. The existing pipe was first cleaned with a jet nozzle. The SMARTFLEX pipe was heated up by the pipe conditioner to around 55°C to ensure sufficient flexibility . For pulling, a digitally controlled mobile winch was used. This winch was used to ensure an even and un-interrupted pulling process at a pull speed of ideally 8 m/min. The pull force was max. 60 kgf at the start. Once the SMARTFLEX pipe was moving, the required force dropped down to 20 kgf. To minimise the required pull force and create a path without damaging the existing copper pipe a bulb shaped stainless steel pull head was developed to pull the SMARTFLEX re-liner. In total, 8 suction lines were re-tubed. Flow measurements carried out prior to and after the re-lining process have shown that in most cases the flow capacity has even increased. Re-lining/re-tubing is a very cost effective and quick way to upgrade the suction pipe system for modern fuels as the fluid tight floor remains untouched. Soon, the relining operation will be carried out at another service station with longer suction lines that have more curves than the first site, a real challenge. Installers were surprised how smooth it all went in this first site. Another big succes for NUPI team and its products!

[TESTO] => NUPI is very proudly taking part in the innovative TORS project - Tier One Replacement System - with its special ELOFIT electrofusion saddle to join main pipe with housing connection. At present, saddle fittings have been developed for 2 ½" and 3" polyethylene pipes. The TORS project was designed to d evelop a robotic system to allow the replacement and remote connection of services to mains. The robotic system is made up of various units, each with its own specific task. The project started in 2012 and the first replacement dates back to April 2017. The ultimate aim of the project is to design and develop a robotic system that is capable of remotely undertaking 10 services to main connections on a 100-meter section of main with only two excavations, eliminating the need for service excavations in the public with significant cost savings and time and vehicle traffic reduction. The TORS project therefore starts downstream of the insertion of a polyethylene pipe inside the main metal pipe (in cast iron or steel) to be decommissioned. The task of the robot, once inserted into the new polyethylene pipe, can be summarized as follows:
- locate the existing connection;
- drill the polyethylene pipe;
- position and weld an electrofusion saddle fitting on the inner surface of the new polyethylene pipe;
- insert the new polyethylene branch line inside the domestic connection from;
- welding the fitting on the branch line;
- carry out a test to verify the welding.

[TESTO] => NUPI has extensive experience in hospital installations , evidenced by its active participation in international projects, from the design phase through BIM modeling to the building phase. Among the most recent projects in which the NIRON polypropylene pipe and fitting system has been installed we find the Ciudad de la Salud Hospital Center in Panama, the Puerto Príncipe Provincial Hospital in Haiti, the Sur Hospital in Quito, Ecuador and the Oruro Hospital in Bolivia . The Ciudad de la Salud Hospital Center in Panama is the most modern hospital in Central America with a surface area of 219,000 m2 occupied by health facilities with 43 surgeries, 284 consultation rooms and 1,235 beds. All the plumbing systems, both for the transport of cold water and for the transport of hot water , were made with Niron monolayer and Niron Clima piping system with diameters up to 200mm . Niron Clima pipes were then also used instead of steel for the transport of chilled water in the air conditioning system . The selected joining method was thermofusion up to diameter 125mm and electrofusion for larger diameters. The range of Niron electrofusion fittings differs from other product ranges on the market thanks to the availability of fittings such as 90° elbows, 45° elbows and tees. The construction and reconstruction of hospitals in Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake of 2010 offered us the opportunity to contribute to the development of the country and the improvement of hospital facilities . In the case of Puerto Principe hospital, Niron RP SDR9 monolayer system was selected for the transport of cold water, while Niron Fiber Blue SDR9 system reinforced with fiberglass was chosen for the transport of hot water to minimize the aesthetic effects of thermal expansion. In the Sur hospital in Quito, Ecuador, polypropylene was chosen as a new installation material in hospitals. The transition from copper to polypropylene brought many technical benefits. In this hospital, Niron Clima SDR11 piping system reinforced with fiberglass was used. In Bolivia, the presence of trusted installers who already used Niron system in other installation and considered it to be the most reliable system for a hospital project, allowed this system to be used in the Oruro hospital not only for plumbing systems but also for air conditioning . Niron Clima system SDR11 met all the installation requirements, from mechanical resistance , to physical characteristics, to antimicrobial properties .

[TESTO] => NIRON pipes and fittings were used for the complete renovation of the historic Rosenwald Courts apartment buildings in the Bronzeville district on Chicago’s South Side. NIRON was used for air-conditioning and condenser water piping from ½" to 8". After nearly 15 years of sitting vacant, this was a historic renovation and restoration project. The façades were restored on the eight buildings, and the two-acre courtyard were renovated and made private. Originally dubbed the Michigan Boulevard Garden Apartments, the historic development was a philanthropic gift from Sears Roebuck magnate Julius Rosenwald. Rosenwald had a particular interest in civil rights and the struggles of African-Americans. Believing that inadequate housing on the city’s South Side was a major barrier to social progress, he picked his nephew, and Adler Planetarium architect, Ernest Grunsfeld Jr. to design the block-sized, 421-unit Michigan Boulevard Garden Apartments to help address overcrowding. Rosenwald invested $2.7 million in the project, a staggering amount of money back when the facility first opened. Designed in a Viennese mold, the stylish dwellings served as homes for many Chicagoans, including Quincy Jones, Jesse Owens and Nat "King" Cole. Despite Rosenwald Courts earning a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, the complex was eventually closed due to poor conditions and mismanagement, with the last residents moving out in 2000. Rosenwald Courts had deteriorated so badly that filmmaker Michael Bay used the site as a stand-in for Chernobyl nuclear plant in his 2011 Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

This specific project which involved more than six figures of pipe is just for the outside of the much bigger building IPG are building in Oxford, MA. NIRON PP-RCT CLIMA pipes and fittings diameter 2", 3" and 5" were used for the new new air-conditioning system to replace the old steel piping that showed some leakage . The NIRON system is always a viable alternative to steel pipes due to its inertia to any corrosion caused by water and its special chemical composition. NIRON pipes and fittings were chosen for this installation. PP-RCT is a new generation material that represents the evolution of the well-known and consolidated PP-R and a valid alternative when it starts showing some limitation, such as in case of high pressures, especially at high temperatures. Its temperature/pressure performance allows for the use of thinner pipes thus offering a greater flow rate with the same diameter. The advantage of polypropylene pipes lies in the lightness of the pipe which has certainly facilitated the replacement operations. The combined use of butt fusion, socket fusion and electrofusion welding allowed to exploit the system properties to the fullest and to run the works quickly and safely. Typically NIRON does not require visits for testing, but because it is installed in a school, additional checks were requested by the school board. The visit was successful so any safety concern for the schoolkids was eliminated. The system was installed for chilled water, potable hot and cold water.

[TESTO] => In the world of installations, integrated design through three-dimensional software is now indispensable for the designer, the work manager and the installer. A methodology that allows to manage, organize and monitor all phases of the project, ensuring the ability to control both constructive technology and interdisciplinary co-ordination and the flow of information is now indispensable. BIM stands for Building Information Modeling, a computable representation of the functional features of a building that arises from the need to fully manage the building process, from the construction drawing to the lifelong lifecycle management. This objective is achieved by using architectural, structural and installation modeling platforms that can describe and structure buildings with representations that go beyond the three canonical dimensions but also cover the dimensions of the construction work time and cost and the size of maintenance processes to best manage the building itself. At the head of an efficient BIM design there must be a completely BIM compliant product. This is NUPI goal. The company invested in providing the user with the BIM libraries of its products. Each model contains all the graphic and informational details needed to recognize the components and the manufacturer, with the appropriate tools that automate each operation in a MEP project, maximizing its usability at all stages of the building process. The benefits of a project based on BIM products are far beyond the simple realistic representation of the three-dimensional item, starting from the dynamic and controlled extraction of the updated data, to the implementation of all possible logical, analytical and structural connections with a view to a system of Cloud sharing. A BIM approach, obviously set on totally BIM compliant systems, gives the opportunity to further explore the subject and develop a multitude of post-projects, quick solutions and incomparable costs. A BIM-made model allows to check plant installation solutions in terms of integrated design from both a calculating and a computing point of view, by automatically decoding info-graphic, computing and project results. A design approach of this type would drop the costs associated with the management and maintenance of each work, allowing monitoring of each plant until its disposal. Each intervention could be studied up to a very high level of detail with a complete view of any possible clash detection of other units present throughout the plant, making it possible to design any maintenance intervention without the need for continuous on-site visits or last minute changes during the installation, with full compliance with the preventive chrono program and full remote supervision.

[TESTO] => We happily announce that Anna & Kristy Berington, the twins sponsored by NUPI and NIRON, successfully completed the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race 2017 respectively at 41st place, with 10 days 2 hours 30 minutes 14 seconds and 7 dogs on the line, and 40th place, with 10 days 2 hours 29 minutes 53 seconds and 10 dogs on the line. Simply finishing a race of this magnitude is impressive but successfully doing this 6 and 8 years in a row, facing -50 ambient temps, sleep deprivation, injuries to yourself, the physical and emotional toll and still achieve a new personal record race time by over 8 1/2 hours is a victory! The annual long-distance sled dog race started on March 6th from Settler's Bay and still stands apart as The Last Great Race on Earth. The winner of Iditarod 2017 was Mitch Seavey , now the fastest and oldest champion at age 57 . He outran his son, defending champion Dallas Seavey, and lapped the oldest musher record that he set at age 53 in 2013. Seavey also set a time record of 8 days, 3 hours, 40 minutes and 13 seconds. That shaved several hours off the record of his son Dallas that was set only last year: 8 days, 11 hours, 20 minutes and 16 seconds. Kristy is now a seven-time finisher, and Anna is a five-time finisher! Both twins most recently completed Iditarod 2016 which was a great race. The annual long-distance sled dog race started on March 6th from Settler's Bay, Alaska and will end in Nome around March 15th. Iditarod stands apart as The Last Great Race On Earth. It pairs the determination of a single musher with the hearts and strength of a team of dogs to try and tackle 1,049 miles of some of the most unforgiving arctic wilderness that can be found today. What is known today as the Iditarod Trail was largely developed during the late 1800s and early 1900s in the heyday of the Alaskan Gold Rush. Dogs had long been used by indigenous people for work on small family farms and transportation across the rugged, undeveloped Alaska interior. But it was the gold rush era that really made dog sledding a popular staple of Alaskan life, as dog teams were used to get people, mail and supplies to remote settlements and the resulting gold back out during the winter months. The introduction and increased use of both airplanes and snowmobiles in the 1920s, however, began to decrease the everyday reliance on dog sledding. The Iditarod has been run each year since 1973 and has included a ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage since 1983. The fastest Iditarod was just run in 2016 by Dallas Seavey in 8 days, 11 hours, 20 minutes and 16 seconds. [TESTO] => In 2015, the Medical University of South Carolina began a project to upgrade the HVAC piping systems for the historic Anderson House, which currently houses the South Carolina College of Pharmacy administration and Dean’s offices. The Daniel Cannon House, better known as the Anderson House, was originally built between 1802 and 1815 by Daniel Cannon, a successful lumberman who owned a mill nearby. He was one of the first to develop the part of the peninsula where MUSC now exists. The Anderson House is a two-and-one-half story building with mechanical and HVAC systems contained within its basement. The Anderson House previously won a Carolopolis award in 1966 for its exterior rehabilitation and was recognized in January of 2015 by the Charleston Preservation Society as among one of the best examples of structural historic preservation and use. NIRON PP-RCT Clima piping was used for the replacement of the hydronic heating as well as for chilled water lines for air conditioning. The services were installed in the building basement and transitioned to steel outside the building. NIRON PP-RCT piping selected in lieu of copper and steel in part due to its lower anticipated total installed cost, but also due to the energy efficiency of the product and the increased longevity anticipated from the elimination of corrosion concerns. NIRON Clima PP-RCT piping was installed with socket fusion in sizes ½" through 4" for both chilled water and hot water.

[TESTO] => J&K Sales Associates - Nupi Americas reps - visited a jobsite in Andover, MA where PP-RCT NIRON is being installed to witness and check its state. The installation is in Phillips Academy Andover, a co-educational preparatory high school for boarding and day students in grades 9 to 12 located in Andover, Massachusetts, 25 miles north of Boston. Phillips Academy has 1,122 students and is a selective school, accepting 13% of applicants. Typically, PP-RCT NIRON does not require field visits for testing, but because it is installed in a school, additional checks were requested by the school board. The project is the new 90K SQ FT Athletic Building and the lines are being buried in the ground to hook the Ice Hockey Rink to the new building. There are chilled water and heating lines going in the ground. Phillips Academy requested that a representative for NIRON be present to witness the test results from the air tests. The visit was successful so any safety concern for the schoolkids was eliminated.

[TESTO] => NUPI is installing NIRON pipes and fittings in two IPG Photonics locations. IPG is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-power fiber lasers. The first application of NIRON pipe and fittings in IPG’s Marlborough, MA facility is for chilled water piping and for the cooling towers. The second application is at the IPG headquarters in Oxford, MA, also for the cooling tower system. In Marlborough, 8" pipe was used for the main lines and 6", 4" and 2" pipes for the branches - approximately 4,000 feet of pipe were installed. However, in Oxford, the applications call for heating lines as well as for chilled water and condenser water. The piping in the Oxford facility will also be significantly larger, up to 20" in size for the condenser water, 14" for chilled water and 12" for the heating lines. Most of the piping will be provided as preinsulated Niron so it can be piped underground from a remote mechanical building to the main production buildings. The main lines are being joined with butt welding, forming a permanent leakproof bond without the need for couplings. The NIRON system offers four joining methods, none requiring traditional arc welding, and all considerably faster than arc welding. The NIRON system was selected for the IPG project because NIRON pipe is significantly lighter and easier and faster to install. NIRON also requires less or no insulation than standard metal piping. These advantages, along with many others, result in lower overall installation costs for IPG, while delivering a superior piping system that is energy efficient, extremely stable and virtually maintenance free.

[TESTO] => NIRON PP-RCT was installed in Dutch Harbor on Amaknak Island in Unalaska, the major community of the western Aleutian Islands in southwestern Alaska, land of king crabs and whales. The Aleutian Islands are a chain of 14 large volcanic islands and 55 smaller ones. On the islands there are 57 volcanoes, most of which still active. Pipes and fitting 1˜ were installed for a water boiler heating system for 12 apartments in a residential building. NIRON PP-RCT pipes and fittings replace copper and steel pipes in heating and plumbing installations. The customer was very pleased with NIRON from a cost and labor-saving stand point, his words have been "It's a no brainer, why have we not heard of this sooner". Dutch Harbor is the main port of call for king crab fishing. The majority of king crab fishing boats leave each season during the winter months of October through January from Dutch Harbor and return for processing and shipment. The boats were shown on TV on Discovery Channel in a special about Alaskan king crab fishing, a very dangerous activity with a fatality rate among the fishermen of about 80 times the fatality rate of the average worker. It is suggested that, on average, one crab fisherman dies weekly during the seasons.

[TESTO] => This hollow log pipe used for gas transport was discovered in 2007 during the installation of a new gas regulator station GR-5 at St. James Place and Madison Street in Manhattan, probably installed by Rochester Natural Gas Light Company. The earliest pipelines were natural tubes, such as hollow logs or bamboo used by the Chinese. Hollow log pipes were largely used for the transport of natural gas in the US in the 19th century. The primary obstacle to the expansion of the natural gas industry in mid-19th century was inadequate pipeline facilities and technology, not lack of supply. Hollow log pipelines leaked and disintegrated, but cast and wrought iron lines also suffered from significant intrinsic defects. Gas leaks were common problems. Natural gas was not used on a large scale until the 1880s and gas wells were most likely to be abandoned when oil was not concurrently discovered. An example of early abandonment occurred in 1865 when a 480-foot drilling effort struck a natural gas reservoir near West Bloomfield, New York. Because the investors were disappointed that oil was not discovered, they abandoned the project. Not everyone was disappointed that this well contained only natural gas. Several businessmen formed the Rochester Natural Gas Light Company and purchased the same gas well in 1870. The nearest town desiring natural gas was Rochester, about 25 miles away. The company constructed a pipeline system to connect the well with the town. They built a pipeline out of Canadian white pine logs that were glued together and bound with twine. The 2- to 8-foot log segments were planed to a uniform 12.5-inch exterior diameter, and they were bored for an 8-inch interior diameter. Construction and maintenance of the wood pipeline system was particularly problematic, but the company began transporting natural gas during the winter of 1872. Continuing problems with gas transportation facilities caused significant problems for the company; rotting and leaking wood pipelines simply prevented the adequate transportation of natural gas from well to consumer. Soon, the company stopped operations. Luckily enough, nowadays NUPI produces and supplies safe and strong pipelines for gas transport made of the most modern thermoplastic materials that guarantee no leaks or corrosion!.

[TESTO] => NIRON pipes and fittings were installed in Sherwood Forest Elementary School and in Paul Habans Charter School in the City of New Orleans. After an exhaustive presentation of the electrofusion technique, the contractor selected this option for being an excellent time and money saving option. Diameters ranged from 2" through 6", with several transitions from steel and copper. The system was installed for chilled water, potable hot and cold water. PP-RCT is a complete polypropylene pipe and fitting system manufactured using random copolymer polypropylene PP-RCT, a plastic material with a special molecular structure ensuring high mechanical resistance and duration, even at high temperatures and pressures.
